I own several acrylic cold weather caps / beanies, and this one by far is the warmest. It won't score any fashion points. And the crinkly sound the Gore Tex insulation makes can be a little annoying putting it on and taking it off. But once it is on, it will keep your head and ears very warm, even in 'polar vortex' conditions. It's impressive how it keeps the cold air out.
The crinkly gore-tex can be a minor issue, BUT this hat keeps your head darned warm, blocks the wind, etc. Probably depends on the application...the noise was distracting deer hunting, but my ears appreciated staying warm.
Gore-Tex creates a crinkly sound when cap is handled.
