Great Blanket! wash in COLD water on Wool setting (if you have it) with Woollite and Snuggle Fresh Odor Eliminating Fabric Softener, high spin to spin the water out then pop it in the dryer on LOW heat for about 15 min to get the majority of the moisture out and then hang to air dry for a day in the sun and it smells like cuddly fresh softness!!! Yes you will get a bit of lint in the dryer screen, but keep the time in the dryer to a minimum and there will be no shrinkage!! Worked for both blankets I bought!!
The blanket is really well made, woven and not pressed fiber. It is exactly 4.8 pounds.
I can't say if it is really 90% wool but I have no reason to believe it's not.
I would love to see this blanket a little thicker and closer to 6 pounds. It would take you through cold nights alone.
When you take it out of the bag, do it out side , the best way to describe the smell is go to a bus repair shop and smell the fuel rags soaked in diesel fuel.
Airing it for days out side did little to help the smell and dry cleaning is more than half the cost of the blanket .
So I filled the tub with cold water and submerged it, gently swishing it around and letting the water remove some of the heavy stinky film of who knows what, after 3 fresh cold water rinses I used Woolite made for dark colors and slowly swished it around in the tub. Then again I submerged it in clean cold water to get he soap out till it was gone.
It now smells like grandmas wool blanket not a bus depot repair shop.
This blanket could be a five star wonder just tell India to not to ship them with out washing out what ever stinks so bad.
I have a military version of it's same thing just says US on it and it is great! Little stiff and ruff when first got it but broke in after I used it twice. VERY WARM plan to take camping in summer when its not to cold because its lite. And also take when its really cold along with my sleeping bag. So over all pleased and its machine washable(gentle) and so far very durable. So I would recommend it and its large enough for a 6'2 person.
