ack in 1953, Milton Somberg began Morris Rothenberg & Son, Rothco's parent company, in a small loft on New York's Lower East Side. This was just a few days after Sir Edmund Hillary became the first man to conquer Mt. Everest. Little did Milton Somberg know that he, too, would begin a journey similar to Hillary's making a long and arduous climb to great heights with tremendous effort and determination.
Just a few days after Rothco began, the first Corvette rolled off the assembly line in Detroit. The Corvette has become an enduring classic as well as the epitome of speed and comfort. Over the years, Rothco has streamlined its operations to become a model of efficiency in the Army/Navy Outdoor industry, with tremendous velocity and a smooth ride.
Through the loyalty and patronage of the world’s finest customers, Rothco has grown over the years. Today, we are a second-generation company, guided by Howard Somberg with his father’s encouragement. Rothco now resides in its fifth location, a state-of-the-art 120,000 sq. ft. facility on Long Island. Though we utilize the latest in computer and warehousing technology, we have never forgotten that caring, knowledgeable and consistent service are the most important assets of a successful operation. We have also found that the best information available comes from listening to the needs of our customers, who are truly experts in all aspects of this industry.
