Modeled after the classic Alice backpack, Rothco’s Heavyweight Mini Alice Pack is the compact alternative to the original Military Alice Pack. Measuring 12.75” x 5.75” x 16”, the Alice (All-Purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment) backpack’s main compartment and three outside pockets are perfect for storing all your essential military, camping, and outdoor supplies. Designed with heavyweight canvas material, reinforced stitching, and durable double-layer adjustable shoulder straps, the military pack provides combat-tested strength to withstand the weight of your gear. The drawstring top and adjustable flap closure will keep your contents safely secure. Included on the flap closure are canvas strap loops so you can attach a tent or sleeping bag while you travel to your next destination. Frame not included.
Bought this as a primary bag for some short trips. Recently got back from a 4 day trip to Europe. Had plenty of room and the bag did fine. It would get 5 stars but for an issue with the shoulder straps. The ladder locks that are supposed to hold the shoulder straps do not grip that 1" strap at all. The straps slip until the metal end catches on the ladder lock. If that metal end were to pop off, the strap would not hold at all. Nothing that a quick overhand knot doesn't fix, but a spring lock similar to those on the original Alice packs would work much better.
LOVE IT! My only complaint is that you don't have a medium and large version constructed the same way. It's too small for my usual 4 day trips but fantastic for a 2 day trip.
Great little pack. Very comfortable and durable. I've had mine for 5 or 6 years now without a single issue. Small enough to be very portable but big enough to carry the essentials for building a bushcraft camp. Simple and effective.
